Why do we hold hands?

Why do we hold hands?
So that someone can guide us the way?
Or because we fear to fall down alone?
No, we hold hands to feel connected, for belongingness, and sometimes to feel home, for someone who feels home.
We hold hands to exist, exist in the moment, a moment where surprisingly we are not alone.
We hold hands for relief and for an inexplicable comfort, a comfort that’s beyond any medication and science.
I think it’s a human to human thing, a meal for the soul.
We hold hands because it heals and ironically to be free, free from our dark sides and our ugliest wounds.
We hold hands because we belong, not to anyone else but our own.
